It’s been a wild and rewarding few weeks for Lovelock. We’ve officially shot about an hour’s worth of footage covering three pivotal scenes, and it’s starting to feel real.
One of the most intense scenes we’ve tackled so far is simply titled Nowhere—set in a stark, stripped-down location, drenched in fog, whipped by wind machines, and captured in low lighting to emphasize its raw, emotional tone. We shot in 422 ProRes, in full color, but the final look will be processed using a Kodak B&W LUT to give it that gritty, textured style reminiscent of The Lighthouse. The grain, contrast, and monochrome tones are already giving the footage an eerie, timeless quality.
This is just a quick test.
What made it even more special was watching my son, Ethan Key, step into the role of The Boy. He brought something quiet and powerful to the performance, and I couldn’t be prouder. He’s earned every frame.
Check it out!
Next up: ADR. We’ll be scheduling a session soon to fine-tune some of the audio and lock in the vocal performances. There’s still a long road ahead, but right now, we’re exactly where we need to be.
Thanks for following along. More to come soon.
